JERRY B. FAIN, MBA
HUMAN RESOURCE COORDINATOR
Jerry B. Fain, a Florida native, is the Human Resources Coordinator and Auditor for the Hope, Unity, and Freedom Center (H.U.F). While Jerry began his career at the H.U.F Center as a case manager and facilitator to the Special Interest Music Group, he was quickly promoted to his role in Human Resources. In this position, Jerry coordinates with the management team to ensure that the H.U.F. Center recruits, hires, and maintains the most qualified staff, while adhering to H.U.F’s values and mission. In addition, Jerry manages the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies, and benefits for all employees of each H.U.F. Center throughout Virginia. Jerry is a valued employee who often interacts enthusiastically with the clients. For example, he enjoys playing his trumpet, dressing up for special occasions, and is also known by many of the clients as the “Exercise Man” who promotes physical fitness.
Jerry received a Bachelor of Science degree from Grambling State University, located in Grambling, Louisiana. While attending, Jerry was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He was also a trumpet player who went on become the Drum Major for Grambling State University’s “World Famed” Tiger Marching Band. While leading the marching band of over 260 individuals, Jerry developed leadership skills and enhanced his ability to encourage, inspire, and motivate others. In addition, Jerry played the trumpet during several appearances in the 2007 movie, The Great Debaters, starring Academy Award winner Denzel Washington.
In 2010, Jerry graduated from Capella University, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree, specializing in Human Resource Management. While pursing his M.B.A., Jerry interned for City of Richmond Public Schools Department of Human Resources.
Prior to his employment at H.U.F Center, Jerry was a residential counselor in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Floyd, Virginia where he provided services in the home and community setting to adolescents and adults with various mental health conditions. Specifically, Jerry facilitated individuals in all facets regarding developmental disability, such as anger management, social skills, and independent living skills. He was also very involved in an Adult Asperger Support Group in Salem, Virginia. This group consisted of adults of various ages considered to be on the “high functioning” end of the Autism spectrum who sought support for skills such as strengthening communication and relationships.
Jerry is currently a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Iota Sigma Graduate Chapter Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. As a member of the Iota Sigma Graduate Chapter Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Jerry serves as the Director of “Bigger Better Business” and the Graduate Advisor for Radford University undergraduate chapter of Phi Beta Sigma. As a Graduate Advisor, Jerry has set an academic example and provided guidance, mentorship, and support to the chapter as a whole, as well as to individual members in several areas of operation.
