
MELISSA MELESKY
PROGRAM MANAGER (COLONIAL HEIGHTS)
Melissa Melesky serves as the Program Manager for the Hope Unity and Freedom Center located in Colonial Heights, Virginia. She is responsible for managing all aspects of the HUF Center’s Psychosocial Day Support program for adults with a primary mental health diagnosis, dual diagnosis, and/or a coexisting disorder. Melissa loves diversity, learning, and assisting other’s growth so they can reach their fullest potential. Melissa leads an energetic and creative staff to provide an environment that is conducive to increasing her client’s self esteem, motivation, and development of their life skills.
Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and volunteered her time assisted students at the Louisiana Center for the Blind. She continued her education by earning her Master of Arts degree in Psychological Counseling from Nicholls State University.
Prior to moving to Virginia, Melissa was employed as a Social Services Counselor working with adults in a Drug Court Program in Morgan City, LA.
Melissa came to Virginia and immediately began working with children and adolescents that were at risk of out of home placement with an Intensive In-Home Services Program. She also conducted anger management groups for court ordered adolescents. Melissa demonstrated her knowledge and leadership abilities by developing and running an Intensive In-Home Services Program as a Clinical Supervisor for a local non profit agency. As her passion for learning endured, Melissa instructed college level psychology courses at a community based technical school.
Melissa had the opportunity to be a program director for an adolescent boy’s group home that focused on inner city youth that were displaced from their homes. She also worked as a clinician for a day treatment program in an elementary school in which she provided assessments, individual counseling, and crisis intervention to children with mental health and behavioral issues.
Melissa is the most at home when she is encouraging and supporting others to strive for their best, whether it is her clients or her staff. The HUF center provides her an opportunity to inspire others, provide structure, and fuel the creativity of those around her. Melissa works diligently to advocate for clients and is committed to the success of her clients and the Hope Unity Freedom Center.
